Thanks so much for your willingness to take this role in our gatherings! 

Here are some notes as a guideline/framework only - feel free to make it your own. We love having different MCs to bring a unique personality and  perspective to our Sunday gatherings.

General notes about the MC:

• It’s an important role in the service - making people feel welcome and connecting them with God’s presence.

• If you could prepare for it in thought and prayer that would be amazing. 

• If you are comfortable using some Te Reo Māori, please feel free to include. 

If you have any questions, please ask! 

9am Service

(You will have approx 5-10 mins - about 9.20-9.30)

• Take over after worship (or communion fortnightly). If you can catch the eye of the worship leader for timing that works well, or arrange a signal beforehand.

• Up to you how you do this transition - you can pray, lead people in prayer, share a passage of scripture, hear from God about how to use this time, etc.

• Ask people to take a seat and encourage them to connect a bit, meet someone new etc. (If time allows)

• Welcome everyone, including visitors

• Let people know that if they are new, they can fill in the form on the welcome card if they would like to hear from us/keep in touch etc. (Hold up a card if possible).

• Introduce yourself and feel free to share something briefly (again, time permitting)

• Notices

• Tithes and offerings

• Introduce speaker, time should be about  9.30  preferably - 9.35 at the latest. 

10.30am Service

• Arrive at 10am and find the Service Director to check through the run sheet to see if there have been any changes to the service. Make sure you know when you takeover (after what song etc)

• Please sit on the front row alongside the service director to make for a smooth transition.

• Take over after first two songs (subject to change - check with meeting director or worship leader)

• Up to you how you do this transition - you can pray, lead people in prayer, share a passage of scripture, hear from God about how to use this time, etc. 

• Ask people to take a seat and encourage them to connect a bit, meet someone new etc. 

• Welcome everyone, including visitors

• Probably there will be an intro for someone sharing a word for communion or a testimony. See runsheet online.

• If it’s a  testimony, thank the person and pray for them. If it’s communion, the band will probably go straight in.
